Track and Field and Road Running Results Round-Up (25th May - 8th June)

Second rounds of the UK Youth Development League and West Wales Junior open was staged in the space of thirteen days.

Elsewhere, there were track and road races here in Wales but also further afield in South West England and the East Midlands.

Below are the Carmarthen Harriers club results from events held between May 25th and June 8th at Cardiff, Lampeter, Loughborough, Yeovil, Aberdare, Swansea and Haverfordwest.

UK Youth Development League Midland Premier - Cardiff International Sports Stadium (Sunday 25th May)

On the track, the second and middle fixture of the UK Youth Development League - South/West Premier division was held at Cardiff International Sports Stadium for under 17 and under 20 athletes on Sunday 25th May.

Representing the West Wales region composite team in the Welsh Capital were:

Ffion Mabey – Hammer (36.12m); Shot (9.51m); Discus (31.89m); Javelin (11.01m)

Maisie Owen – Hammer (21.74m); Discus (23.65m)

Summer Evans – Discus (32.08m); Javelin (35.42m)

Sarn Helen Hill Race - Lampeter (Sunday 25th May)

There was first place overall for Gethin Thomas in the 1500m junior race (8:28).

 

Loughborough Outdoor Open Meeting - Loughborough University (Wednesday 28th May)

Five consistent measurements from Jessica Lee in the women's long jump at Loughborough University Athletics Track, with 5.84m in round two.

 

Yeovil Olympiads AC Evening Open Meeting - Yeovil (Thursday 29th May)

Yeovil Olympiads AC Evening Open Meeting returned during the half term holidays in Somerset and there were three new personal bests recorded between two of the club’s juniors.

Paige-lily Williams:

British Milers Club PB Classic - Loughborough University (Saturday 31st May)

At the PB Classic edition in Loughborough, Iwan Thomas ran a seas best time of 8:38.72 over 3000m.

British Milers Club PB Classic - Ron Jones Stadium, Aberdare (Tuesday 3rd June)

The first of three midweek British Milers Club PB Classic took place in Aberdare on Tuesday 3rd June.

There was a new personal best for Steffan Davies of 4:11.57 in the 1500m. Over the same distance, Jessica Hyland and Sali Owen clocked 4:45.30 and 4:58.52 respectively.

 

West Wales Junior Open - U11/U13/U15 - Fixture 2 - Swansea University Athletics Track (Saturday 7th June)

West Wales' division second fixture of the season was held at Swansea University Athletics Track.

These open events gives the opportunity for athletes in the younger age groups (under 11, under 13 and under 15) competition at grassroots level.

Thirty-three athletes made the short journey to Swansea, competing in the vests of Carmarthen Harriers in the running, jumping and disciplines.

Under 15: Seren Bowen, Miriam Williams, Cerys Fitzpatrick, Nia Morgan, Dewi Morris, Max Edwards, Oliver Horn, Caden Robertson

The next fixture will take place at Carmarthen on Saturday 2nd August.

The third of three South Wales Throws League matches were back at Ron Jones Stadium in Aberdare.

Sandy Bear's Big Bash - Pembrokeshire Showground (Saturday 7th June)

Emily Baker, an under 13 member was first in the 1.5km fun run at Pembrokeshire Showground.

Swansea University Half Marathon 2025 - Swansea (Sunday 8th June)

Thousands of runners lined the streets of Swansea City Centre, as the 2025 edition of the Swansea University Half Marathon returned on Sunday 8th June.

Among those taking part was Lee Ladd, who completed the course in 1:45:07.
