It has been a busy few weeks for Carmarthen Harriers junior and senior members, who have been competing at several track and field, road running and mountain running fixtures (between Friday 19th July and Sunday 21st August)
Recent club and international in July and the first half of August events headed to Llanwrda, Betws-Y-Coed, Poppit Sands, Aberdare, Loughborough, Newport, Carmarthen, Swansea and Neath.
Carmarthen Harriers Athletics Club hosted a friendly inter-club competition for U11, U13 and U15 members of Carmarthen along with Pembrokeshire Harriers and Llanelli Athletics Club on Tuesday 16th August. On a successful evening where 60 athletes attended, some competing for the first time, the events included 75m/100m, 800m, long jump, high jump and javelin.
The Welsh Athletics U13, U17 & U20 Junior Track & Field Championships returned to Newport Athletics Stadium on the weekend of 13th August and 14th August, where sixteen athletes from the club competed over both days in hot conditions. They returned home with eleven medals altogether... eight gold / Welsh Champions and 3 bronze. A week later, there was an opportunity for younger U11, U13 & U15 athletes to compete in one of the final events of the summer at the Welsh Athletics Junior Open Meeting for West Division clubs at Cwrt Herbert Sports Centre, Neath.
Four Carmarthen Harriers athletes were selected to represent the Welsh Athletics and Welsh Schools teams at the Welsh Athletics U20 Track & Field International in Swansea in midweek. Congratulations to Jessica Lee, Lili Church, Morgan Batten and Frank Morgan!
Club Athletes have also participated at the Ras Ad-clad Caio to Llanwrda, Poppit Sands 5K Series Events 2 & 3, British Milers Club Regional Race, UK Youth Development League Upper Age Group (U17 & U20) and the Welsh Junior Mountain Running Championships, where under 17 Finley Bruce became Welsh champion!
