Pre-Christmas Event Round-Up (3rd December - 14th December Results)

The first two weeks of December saw club athletes attend cross country, road and indoor athletics. Round-Up from Cardiff, Bristol, Swindon between December 3rd and December 14th.

Cardiff Met University Meeting  - National Indoor Athletics Centre (Wednesday 3rd December)

In the first indoor competition of the winter, Tygan Davies clocked 37.34 over 300m at the Cardiff Metropolitan University indoor meeting.

 

John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League - Fixture 3 - Blaise Castle, Bristol (Saturday 6th December) 

The current John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League campaign reached the half-way mark in Bristol.

Following the early season fixtures in South Wales, round three took place at the scenic Blaise Castle Estate.

Carmarthen Harriers’ endurance athletes - from under 11 to senior - made the longest journey of the league season to the South West of England.

The Novice Girls were well represented, with Haf Thomas, Ila Owens, Alys Tremlett, Eva Williams and Ffion Ostroznik competing in the younger age group.

Under 13 Emily Baker competed in her third consecutive event while the trio of Manon Phillips, Lily Morgan and Lowri Morgan completed the under 15 girls’ race.

There was a second-place finish for Amelia Williams in the under 17 women’s category, followed by teammates Skye Bruce and Anastasia Eggleston-Stoker.

Race two saw Llew Vaughan and Aron Lewis participate in a field of over 100 Novice Boys.

Dafydd Williams, Mason Wrona and Iwan Morris lined up in the under 13 boys’ race. Tomos Cai Davies represented the club in the under 15 boys.

The quartet of Ifan Bowen, Steffan Davies, Joshua Barnett and William Harries produced great performances in the under 20 men’s age group.

Elizabeth Tremlett and Huw Davies finished their senior races in 31:15 and 40:39 respectively.

Chepstow Racecourse will host the fourth and penultimate event in the New Year.

 

 

Welsh Athletics Junior Indoor Open U13, U15 & U17 incorporating West Wales 200m, 300m & 400m Regional Championships - National Indoor Athletics Centre (Sunday 7th December)

A brand-new indoor athletics season for junior athletes got underway with Day 1 of the Welsh Athletics Junior Indoor Open (Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups) at the National Indoor Athletics Centre at Cyncoed Campus, Cardiff.

200m, 300m, 400m, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put and para field events took centre stage on the opening day.

Following the same format as in previous years, the Welsh Athletics Junior Indoor Open fixtures incorporates the West Wales* Regional Championships (*200m to 1500m for West Wales only, as all other events will be included in the region's indoor championships at Swansea on 11th January & 15th February).

Seven Carmarthen Harriers members travelled to the Welsh Capital to run the one lap 200m along with the high jump and 1000m walk.

Day 2 of the Welsh Athletics Junior Indoor Open (U13, U15, U17) will take place at NIAC in early January on Sunday 11th January. Events that day will feature 60m and 60m Hurdles, 800m and 1500m distance events as well as the Long Jump, Shot Put and Pole Vault in the field.

Cardiff Met Indoor Christmas Classic Grand Prix - National Indoor Athletics Centre (Sunday 14th December)

Before the Christmas period, Cardiff Metropolitan University held its first of three grand prix events at National Indoor Athletics Centre, Cardiff.
