Three major cross country and indoor events of the season were held within seven days of each other... as the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series got underway in the Welsh capital, whilst the combined Welsh Inter-Regional / Inter-Schools & Colleges / Urdd Primary School Races headed to mid Wales the following weekend along with the British Schools Combined Events International in Scotland.
Late October and Early November saw the Brianne Secondary Schools Cross Country League return, as well as Marathon Eryri and Richard Burton 10K.
Marathon Eryri 2024 - Snowdonia (Saturday 26th October)
In North Wales, the 40th Marathon Eryri / Snowdonia Marathon took place in Llanberis On Saturday 26th October.
Well done to David Cole and Huw Davies for completing the course in a time of 2 hours 45 minutes 14 seconds and 4 hours 14 minutes and 2 seconds.
Richard Burton 10K & Mini Miller - Cwmavon, Port Talbot (Sunday 3rd November)
In Cwmavon near Port Talbot, the Richard Burton 10K and Kevin Webber Mini Miler was back!
In the junior one mile which attracted 600 entries, Paige-lily Williams was the fifth girl home in 5:52 with Tayla Williams posting a new personal best of 7:15.
Joshua Barnett completed the main 10K course in a 36:45 clocking.
British Athletics Cross Challenge Series / John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League - Llandaff Fields, Cardiff (Saturday 9th November)
The opening 2024-2025 British Athletics Cross Challenge Series leg was held in Wales on Saturday 9th November.
Llandaff Fields just north of the City alongside the River Taf attracted many of the UK's top endurance runners and club athletes from all over the United Kingdom to kick-start their winter competition, along with a big field of international athletes from across the World.

The course was a mixture of flat fast running as well as woodland and riverside sections, as distances varied from 1,250m for the novice youngsters up to 9,600m in the final event of the day for senior & master men.
Carmarthen Harriers club athletes, team managers, coaches and parents made the 120-mile round trip to Cardiff.

Ysgol Bro Myrddin in Carmarthen hosted the second Brianne Schools Cross Country League of the season.
Athletes from Dyffryn Aman, Maes Y Gwendraeth, Dyffryn Taf, Queen Elizabeth High, Llandovery College, Bro Dinefwr and hosts Bro Myrddin participated.

Welsh Inter Schools and Colleges Cross Country Championships / Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships / Urdd Primary School Races - Dolerw Park, Newtown (Saturday 16th November)
Saturday 16th November saw pupils at Welsh secondary schools and colleges from all eight Welsh Districts - Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & Vale, Dyfed, Eryri, Glamorgan Valleys, North East Wales, Powys and South East Wales travel to Dolerw Park in Newtown.
The 47th Welsh Inter Schools and Colleges Cross Country Championships and the 25th edition of the Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships combined into a joint fixture for the fifth time.
Regional vests were up for grabs as West Wales selected teams in each of the junior (U13-U20), senior and master age groups.
Two primary school races in conjunction with Urdd Gobaith Cymru were also held at the beginning of the programme for boys and girls in years 3,4,5 and 6.
33 club athletes made the long journey to mid Wales to represent the region, West Wales and/or their Dyfed secondary/primary school on Saturday at Newtown.

British Schools Indoor Combined Events U16 & U18 Pentathlon International 2024 - Emirates Arena, Glasgow (Saturday 16th November)
Fifteen Welsh school pupils travelled up to Scotland to represent the Welsh Schools Athletic Association at the 2024 British Schools Indoor Combined Events U16 & U18 Pentathlon International, held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Saturday 16th November.
The Welsh Schools squad were up against the top runners, jumpers and throwers from English Schools, Irish Schools and hosts Scottish Schools.
Both age groups, with four athletes per country taking part, competed in a pentathlon with 60m Hurdles, Shot Put, 200m / High Jump, Long Jump and 800m making up the day's events.
The team were supported at the international by team managers, Welsh Schools officers and coaches. Welsh Schools’ mascot ‘Dewi the Dragon’ also made an appearance following its first outing last year.
Congratulations to Beatrice Morgan from Llandovery College, selected for the second year in succession at this event. She helped the Welsh Schools under 16 girls' quartet win bronze medals in the team event and placed ninth individually to round off a great weekend trip North.
