At the end of the winter season, Scottish Schools were the hosts of the 2025 SIAB Schools Cross Country International this year, held at the end of March at Falkirk where Dyfed schools district pupils were represented.
A fortnight later, a new outdoor track & field season began with a great day in West Wales at the Swansea Harriers Neal Merry Track & Field Open Meeting, where 49 club members were participating in 14 disciplines across 11 different categories.
This was followed by the Brisco Gorseinon 10K, Bristol Track Club 3K and 5K and Mark Cawte Memorial Open Meeting in Swindon 24 hours later.

SIAB Schools Cross Country International 2025 - Calendar Park, Falkirk (Saturday 22nd March)
Three Carmarthen Harriers youngsters represented the Welsh Schools Athletics Association at the annual end-of-season fixture in Falkirk.
The SIAB Schools Athletic Board Cross Country International was hosted by Scottish Schools at Callendar Park.
Welsh Schools, English Schools, Irish Schools and Scottish Schools battled it out across six events. They featured long races and the 4 x 1500m mixed relays.
Sali Owen (Penweddig) was the first to participate in the intermediate girls’ age group, covering a distance of 4,000m in 15:24.
Finishing as the second Welsh scorer, Sam Griffiths (Bro Myrddin) competed in the intermediate boys’ race, recording 21:28.
Manon Phillips (Bro Myrddin) was selected to run the second leg in the junior mixed relay team. In the penultimate event of the day, the quartet returned home with bronze medals.
Spring Forest of Dean Half Marathon (Sunday 23rd March)
Liz Tremlett completed the Spring Forest of Dean Half Marathon in 1 hour 40 minutes 21 seconds on Sunday, finishing 11th in her category.
Swansea Harriers Neal Merry Track & Field Open Meeting 2025 - Swansea University Athletics Track (Saturday 5th April)
The track and field season opener in West Wales was the Swansea Harriers Neal Merry Track & Field Open Meeting held at Swansea University Athletics Track on Saturday 5th April.
The Annual Open Meeting offered the sprint and distance hurdles, 75m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 800m, 3000m, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Javelin, Shot, Discus, Hammer and Pole Vault disciplines over a six-hour programme.
A great turnout of 49 Carmarthen Harriers athletes made the short journey to Swansea to participate in fixture 1 of the summer campaign.
With several members making their debuts in track and field competition whilst others moved up an age group, they all produced great early season results.

Bristol Track Club 5K & Junior 3K - Odd Down Cycle Circuit, Bath (Sunday 6th April)
In Bath on Sunday afternoon, the Bristol Track Club 5K and Junior 3K races returned.
In the under 13 girls' 3K which was combined with the boys, Manon Phillips clocked 11:27 while in the 5K for men, there were finishing times of 15:19 and 15:53 for under 20's Iwan Thomas and Steffan Davies in South West England.
Brisco Gorseinon 10K & 2K Fun Run (Sunday 6th April)
At the Brisco Gorseinon 10K at Penyrheol Leisure Centre, Jake Lynock completed the 10K in 35:22, finishing in tenth position overall.
Mark Cawte Memorial Open Meeting - County Ground Track, Swindon (Sunday 6th April)
24 hours after participating in Swansea, Ffion Mabey travelled over the bridge to Swindon for the club's Mark Cawte Memorial Open Meeting.
The day began with a new personal best of 38.13m in the hammer before she threw 31.06m in the discus shortly after.
