A brand-new club cross country season began in Port Talbot over the weekend with the John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League. Elsewhere, school children went to Whitland and Milford Haven for round 1 of the cross country league. There was race walking in Leeds and the return of the Cardiff Half Marathon in the Capital.
Brianne and Pembrokeshire Secondary Schools Cross Country League 1 - Ysgol Dyffryn Taf and Milford Haven School (Tuesday 23rd September)
Pupils from Years 7 to 11 travelled to Ysgol Dyffryn Taf and Milford Haven School for the opening rounds.
In Whitland, Dyffryn Aman, Maes Y Gwendraeth, Bro Dinefwr, Bro Myrddin, Queen Elizabeth High, Llandovery College and hosts Dyffryn Taf were involved.
Meanwhile, Pembrokeshire’s schools were in action further West in Milford Haven.
Carmarthen Harriers athletes enjoyed success as a busy winter season gets underway.
Tom Bosworth mile race walking event - Leeds Beckett University (Saturday 27th September)
Cerys Fitzpatrick and Gwen Fitzpatrick celebrated new personal bests over the 1-mile race walk at Leeds Beckett University. In South Yorkshire, they recorded times of 9:19.16 and 11:52.56 respectively.
Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon - Cardiff City Centre (Sunday 5th October)
Nine club members completed the 13.1-mile Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon in the Welsh Capital on Sunday 6th October.

John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League - Fixture 1 - Margam Country Park, Port Talbot (Saturday 11th October)
The John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League, one of the most popular grassroots cross-country leagues in the UK, returned to West Wales for the season opener on Saturday 11th October.
More than 1,000 runners descended on Margam Country Park in Port Talbot and races featured the under 11 athletes right up to the seniors and masters’ categories.
It hosted the West Wales Cross Country Championships 2025 where regional medals were up for grabs. Alongside this was the selection race for the Welsh Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships in Newtown on 29th November.
It was a great opportunity for new and established Carmarthen Harriers junior and senior members to compete.
