29/11/2008 Email received"I'm from Wexford town which is the first town you come to when you take the Pembroke or Fishguard ferry to Rosslare in Ireland.
For years when Ireland play Wales in the 6 Nations in Ireland (and generally loose!!) Welsh people who don't have tickets for the game would come and stay in Wexford Town. Its always a bit of atmosphere and fun.

Next year we have started up a New Premium Half Marathon in Wexford Town. I'd like to make you guys aware of this and hope that some may come over to take part. It would add a lot of colour to the Event

15/11/2008 Club records. I have an issue with they way these records are produced, and I think Club members should voice their opinon. The way they are calculated is that record of a higher age group can be given to a younger athlete (out of age)- i.e. an U15 athlete could hold the U17, U20 or senior record as well as their age group if that , say U15 performance is better than a Senior performance. I think this is wrong- age group records should be that, for the age they compete in. Let me or a committee member know your views. But when a record is given at senior level to an athlete who has not competed at that level yet, and may not, I think we are distorting records. I would say also that ignoring Indoor performances and so called wind assisted performances is doubtful. Indoor Performances are relevant, and would tend anyway to be slower than outdoor- let's show them as Indoor(i).Wind assisted being ignored is dubious as not all meets have a wind recorder, so people can get records because a wind gauge was not used. If the Club want records to be decided in this fashion-ie the best of all ages, then get rid of the age groups and just list the best performances in an event, irrespective of age. Let the Committee know your view.

11/11/2008 Eric Pennington

It is with much regret we have to report the death of Eric Pennington a faithful member of Carmarthen Harriers for many years

Eric will be fondly remembered for his sterling work as the starter at all local indoor sportshall athletics, cross country and athletics in Carmarthen. For many years he started all the Gwent League cross country races

Several years ago he was seriously ill but made a remarkable recovery to continue his duties as a starter. Dyfed schools made a special presentation to Eric on his 80th birthday when he acted as starter at the annual Dyfed secondary schools championships in Carmarthen

Carmarthen Harriers Athletics Club and all its members extend its deepest sympathy to Pat and the family
