Welsh Athletics Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place over the weekend of June 2nd 3rd and 4th, the 3 day competition will be held at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium (C.I.S.S.) The closing date for this weekend is Thursday 17th May. All the event information and planner is available too. The Championships this year are closed entries only, which means that they are only open to Welsh eligible athletes, there is an open event to include non Welsh athletes and that event is the 3000m which will be held in Neath on 15th August, closing date for this is Thursday 9th August. The Sainsbury UK School Games were hel in the London Olympic Stadium. Carmarthen Harriers had five athletes competing for the Welsh schools team in this year’s event. Awen Rosser Ysgol y Strade won the discus with a throw of 40.04 metres. Two members won bronze medals. Kyran Roberts Queen Elizabeth came third in the 1500m with a time of 3.58.56 and Aled Price Maes yr Yrfa was third in the javelin with an throw of 52.88m. Shaun Pearce Glan y Mor was a member of the Welsh schools 4 x 100m team that came fifth and Rhys Granville Ysgol y Strade was a member of the team that finished fourth in the 4 x 400 metres relay. Well done everyone
Erin Walters Bro Myrddin was eighth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.55m

This year two Carmarthen Harriers members have been successful in winning Sports Aid Grants. Awen Rosser Ysgol y Strade discus and shot competitor and Daniel Blain Dyffryn Taf 110m hurdler and 100m athlete

On Sunday 6th May 2012 the McCain Midlands West Young Athletes first match of the season was hosted by Carmarthen. It was a good day for Carmarthen Harriers as they won the match by 25 points from a combined Llanelli and Neath team. 1 Carmarthen 591; 2 Llanelli/ Neath 566; 3 Bridgend 485; 4 Newport 401, 5 Aberdare /Rhondda 330
At Carmarthen Carmarthen Harriers were without five of their members who were competing for the Welsh schools team in the UK School Games in the London Olympic Stadium and members who were playing rugby in important end of season competitions but Carmarthen Harriers members won 15 A events in the competition in Carmarthen.
