Details have been sent to Head of PE Departments at all Secondary Schools. The Brianne Schools Cross Country Championships which will be held at Tregib School, Llandeilo on Monday 30th January 2012 at 1.00pm. • Age Groups Year 7,Year 8&9, Year 10 &11,Year 12 &13
• Both male and female
• Teams of 10 in each age group race (4 to count)
10 to qualify from each race to compete in the Dyfed Schools Cross-Country Championships at DINEFWR PARK LLANDEILO on Tuesday 7 February 2012 (first event at 11 00 am). In the Dyfed Championship first six in each race will be automatically selected for the Welsh Schools Inter District Cross- Country championships in Brecon on SATURDAY 25 FEBRUARY 2012.Selectors will select the remaining six members of the team in each age group. Dyfed Schools have won the Welsh Schools Inter District Cross Country overall team title every year since 1991 and on Sunday 15th January 2012, there will be 95 athletes from Dyfed Schools competing for Dyfed in Schools Inter District Challenge cross country event at Blackfriars Cardiff (first event at 11.10 am). On Sunday 15th January 2012 sixty five Dyfed schools competitors competed in the McCains cross country challenge event in Cardiff. Seven schools districts competed and the Dyfed schools junior girls team won silver medals and another two Dyfed teams finished in third place. Well done everyone. On Tuesday 24th January 2012 the Carmarthenshire Secondary Schools Indoor Sportshall Athletics Championships (Years 9 and 10 only) will take place at the Carmarthen Leisure Centre between 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. Letters have been sent to all the Secondary Schools in the County and we would welcome as many competitors as possible for the above Championships. Following these Championships, athletes will be considered for selection for the Dyfed Schools team to compete in the Welsh Inter District Sportshall Athletics Championships at Cwmbran on Sunday, 4th March 2012. This competition is a Multi event competition and competitors must compete in 3 events; 1 from each of the following groups: - GIRLS BOYS
Section A 2 lap or 4 lap 2 lap or 4 lap
Section B Standing long jump or
Vertical jump Standing long jump or
Vertical jump
Section C Speed Bounce or Shot Speed Bounce or Shot The Speed Bounce will be timed for 30 seconds over 200mm high wedge. The competitor must land and take-off on both feet. |
