Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships 2022: Two-day competition on 6th / 8th June

The 2022 Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships will be held at Carmarthen Leisure Centre Athletics Track across two-days in June.

Monday 6th June (18:00-20:00) & Wednesday 8th June (10:30-17:00)

Year 8/9, Year 10/11, Year 12/13 (Year 7 event will be held on a separate date)

Firstly, each of the four areas - Brianne, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Llanelli - will organise area championships during the month of May at Carmarthen with the top finishers (three from each area per event) invited to represent their area at the Dyfed championships.

Tuesday 17th May: Brianne Secondary Schools Area Athletics Championships

Thursday 19th May: Pembrokeshire Secondary Schools Area Athletics Championships

Friday 20th May: Llanelli Secondary Schools Area Athletics Championships

Tuesday 24th May: Ceredigion Secondary Schools Area Athletics Championships

The Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships will get underway on Monday evening (6th June) where the first 6 events of the 2022 championships will be held. These include the 300m and 400m distance hurdles, 1000m Walk, 3000m and 1500m/2000m steeplechase along with the hammer and pole vault in the field.

The first set of events on Wednesday 8th June will begin at 10.30am on the field and the track; hurdles heats at 10.30am. Events are expected to finish at approximately 5:15pm.

Event disciplines on the running track will be the 100m/200m/300m/400m sprints, sprint hurdles, 800m, 1500m. Long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot, javelin and discus will be contested on the field across all age groups.

A Dyfed Schools team will be selected to compete at the Welsh Schools U15, U17 & U20 Track & Field Championships at Cardiff International Sports Stadium on Saturday 2nd July 2022. Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & Vale, Dyfed, Eryri, Glamorgan Valleys, North East Wales, Powys and South East Wales will be competing in Cardiff and is the selection race for the SIAB Schools Track & Field International in Belfast in mid July.
