It has been confirmed that the Welsh Inter Schools Cross Country Championships and Welsh Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships will take place as one fixture in 2019.
Over the years the two events have been held apart but this November, the fields of Penlan Arena in Brecon will welcome the two competitions on the same day and it promises to attract all the top athletes and all abilities to the venue.
It will be held on Saturday 16th November with a start time of TBC. Whilst schools will be represented, the West, East, South and North regions will be selecting teams to compete in each of the age groups in the inter-regional element which begins down with the U13 juniors and goes up to the seniors and masters.
To allow team leaders enough time to select, distribute and compile squads to represent West Wales, the region's selection race for the Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships will now have to be incorporated into the John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League Match 1 at Cardiff on Saturday 12th October.
No West Wales medals will be presented at Cardiff, as the West Wales Championships will still be held on "home turf" on Saturday 9th November in Pembrey Country Park in conjunction with the John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League match 2.
At Brecon on Saturday 16th November, secondary school and college runners are able to both represent the West Wales team and their school team, as age group categories are the same.
Details on kit, scoring for inter regional and schools, course map and timetable will follow.
