PAUL BENNET of CARMARTHEN HARRIERS won silver in the AAAs championships in the U17 mens 400m in BEDFORD over the weekend in a time of 49.10 sec. which was the exact time he won at the Carmarthen track last weekend in the CELTIC INTERNATIONAL.

Pauls personal best this year is 48.99 which he achieved in ANTRIM in the schools international a few weeks ago, the winner then was the same athlete that won gold in Bedford GREG LOUDEN of SCOTLAND.

Pauls coach at Carmarthen said; Paul will have one more chance to reverse placings against Greg in the UK school games at the end of the month before they both move up an age group to Under 20 next year, Greg and Paul are the best under 17 one lap runners in the country both are UK 1and 2 ranked in the under 17 men for the event, and I am pleased with the way training has progressed as Paul only started training with me at the end of last year.
