Schools' Winter Season set to go with West Wales Event Double-Header - THIS TUESDAY! PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday 25th September kick starts another season of secondary schools cross country in the West Wales Region. In Dyfed, Brianne Schools head to Whitland for the first league match of the season (1:00pm), whilst later on in the afternoon, attention will turn to the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools who compete in the District's Development Races. (4:00pm)

 

BRIANNE SCHOOLS / YSGOLION BRIANNE

The Cross Country League for Brianne Secondary Schools returns for 2018/19 with match 1 as in previous years heading to Whitland. The seven schools, will be at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf Comprehensive School this Tuesday, 25th September.

Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, Ysgol Bro Myrddin, Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth, QE High School, Ysgol Dyffryn Taf and Llandovery College will participate. Other fixtures look to be hosted by the Carmarthen, Llandeilo and Ammanford schools.

The first event on the 25th starts off at 1pm in the afternoon with age group races expected to take place at approximately every 10 minutes. Open to Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 pupils, Speak to PE teachers for the full details on how to compete for the school.

Race Distances will vary from 1.5 laps, 2 laps, 2.5 laps and 3 laps for the older boys' age group.

 

1:00pm: Year 7 Girls / Merched Blwyddyn 7 (1.5 laps)

1:10pm: Year 7 Boys / Bechgyn Blwyddyn 7 (2 laps)

1:20pm: Year 8 Girls / Merched Blwyddyn 8 (2 laps)

1:30pm: Year 8 Boys / Bechgyn Blwyddyn 8 (2.5 laps)

1:40pm: Year 9 & 10 Girls / Merched Blwyddyn 9 a 10 (2.5 laps)

1:50pm: Year 9 & 10 Boys / Bechgyn Blwyddyn 9 a 10 (3 laps)

AFAN NEDD TAWE SCHOOLS / YSGOLION AFAN NEDD TAWE

From 4pm, on the same day this week (Tuesday 25th September) all school pupils in the Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges will head to Pontarddulais Comprehensive School for the District's Development Races, also starting the new cross country season.

The first event on the 25th starts off at 4pm in the afternoon with age group races expected to take place at approximately every 10 minutes. Open to Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, Year 11, Year 12, and Year 13 pupils, Speak to PE teachers for the full details on how to compete for the school.

Schools from St Joseph's, Bae Baglan, Bro Dur, Bishopston, Bishop Vaughan, Cwm Brombil, Bishop Gore, Olchfa, Cefn Saeson, Llangatwg, Gower College, Penyrheol, Gwyr, Dwr-Y-Felin, NPT College, Gowerton, Cefn Hengoed, Morriston, Dylan Thomas, Pontarddulais, Cwmtawe, Birchgrove, Bryntawe, Pentrehafod and Ystalyfera have all been invited to send teams to Pontarddulais on Tuesday afternoon.

 

1. Schools and Colleges taking part must be affiliated to the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools Athletics Association.

2. No athlete is allowed to compete unless a member of staff from their school is present.

3. The assistance of staff in officiating at the fixture would be welcomed.

4. Toilets and changing facilities are available on site.

5. Each school is responsible for First Aid cover of their own pupils.

6. Course marking, and stewards and carrying out risk assessments are done by the meeting manager.

7. 1 lap = 1,050m

8. There will be a tuck shop to raise money for the school district.

 

4:00pm: Year 7 Girls / Merched Blwyddyn 7 (2 laps)

4:10pm: Year 7 Boys / Bechgyn Blwyddyn 7 (2 laps)

4:20pm: Year 8 & 9 Girls / Merched Blwyddyn 8 a 9 (2.5 laps)

4:30pm: Year 8 & 9 Boys / Bechgyn Blwyddyn 8 a 9 (2.5 laps)

4:40pm: Year 10 to 14 Girls / Merched Blwyddyn 10 i 14 (3 laps)

4:50pm: Year 10 to 14 Boys / Bechgyn Blwyddyn 10 i 14 (3 laps)
