The final cross country event of the 2017 event will again be the Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships. It takes place at Brecon's Penlan Arena (Brecon Leisure Centre/High School) on Saturday 9th December 2017 and staged for the 19th time by Welsh Athletics.

The Inter Regionals is part one of a busy day for several Carmarthen Harriers, who will then arrive back in Carmarthen that evening for the Christmas Party at Xcel Bowling in Johnstown.

Competition will be between West, East, South and North Wales with teams of 12 selected in each category which begins with the under 13's and goes through under 15, 17, 20 into the senior and masters age groups. The day commences with a series of primary schools races for under 11 athletes at 11.30am and 11.45am before the main championships kicks off at 12 noon and continues for 3 hours after that.

West Wales Athletes: Reply slips should have been returned by Friday 10th November at the latest. After this date reserves have been invited to compete.

The region's first team was selected through the Cardiff Cross Challenge / Gwent League fixture at Llandaff Fields, Cardiff in October.

All West Wales competitors must wear a West Wales vest. If you have not got one they can be purchased at £20 each.

Due to lack of interest, there is no team bus booked for the Inter-Regionals this year and car sharing is advised for anyone without transport.

Athletes are asked to report to the team managers at Brecon at 11am unless otherwise agreed with the team managers beforehand (first race - at 11.45am)

Parking for all athletes, spectators and team coaches will be provided at Brecon Leisure Centre LD3 9SR. Parking on the road is not encouraged and may lead to vehicles being booked.

The event headquarters including registration, is at the Brecon AC pavilion in the main field and adjacent to Brecon Athletics track.

Presentations will be made outside the large marquee following each race as soon as results can be ratified. Presentations will be for the first three individuals and the winning regional teams.

Toilets are available at the toilet / changing block as marked on the map and at the leisure centre.

On-site catering will be provided at the Brecon AC pavilion.

First Aid cover is provided by St John Cymru Wales on the day.

Health and Safety at Cross Country events - Athletes are advised that Health and Safety regulations recommend that you should examine the course for potential hazards before competing.
