Short Update from the Louise Arthur League U11, U13, U15 abandonment 27/05/17: The latest popular league visited Cwrt Herbert track in Neath on Saturday on a fully contrasting day to the above, with close to 500 athletes declared from Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Bridgend, Brecon, Neath, Llanelli, Barry & Vale and Pontyclun competing. Carmarthen had its problems a few years back when for 2 years in succession the competition had to be called off half way through because of poor weather conditions and it happened again here in Cwrt Herbert.

Despite a dry morning while setting up, the rain come down as the competition got underway at 11am and it was obvious that the state of the track and safety on the field was getting worse. Following a suspension of events for half an hour to see if things would clear up, unfortunately it was not possible to carry on with the programme already running behind and the decision was made in agreement with the meeting director and club team managers to abandon the meeting at 1pm on the welfare of athletes and officials with only a couple of events completed (Hammer & 1000m W / 75m-100m up to U13G)

Thanks to all the athletes and officials who made the effort to turn up / travel up at Neath and apologize to everyone concerned. We hope to see many more out at the next one in July.

Carmarthen Junior ParkRun 1 Year Anniversary 28/05/17: On Sunday 28th May, Carmarthen junior parkrun had it's first anniversary run in Carmarthen Town Park. The event was attended by the Mayor Councillor Wyn Thomas, Hedydd Davies and many other friends and parents of runners taking part. A record-breaking 76 runners took part and an outstanding 27 of those had PB's!

There were 15 first time runners and as well as Carmarthen Harriers AC, there were representatives from Llanelli AAC, Swansea Harriers AC and South London Harriers. First over the line was Daisy Thompson in a PB time of 7.42 followed by Ifan Bowen, both of Carmarthen Harriers! Well done to both and to each and every runner taking part.

Runners and families stayed in the park afterwards for a celebration of what has become a way of life now for all involved at 9am every Sunday morning. Refreshments, birthday cake and a boucy castle were all enjoyed.
